Punchdrunk have woven iconic cultural references from the myth of Faust into the physical appearance of the rooms, corridors and stairwells of the building at 21 Wapping Lane.
A question is at the heart of Faust: will Mephistopheles, the one time angel, be able to turn Dr Faust away from the light of reason? In other words from God?
Tunnel 228 isn't meant to be found (i.e. stumbled upon at random); you're meant to find it (i.e. actively seek it out).
